It was with sad hearts that Copper Mountain College heard about the sudden death of Alum Jeff Tabor an Emergency Medical Technician here in the Morongo Basin. Jeff attended CMC and completed a Certificate of Proficiency in EMT on July 15, 2008, and graduated with an Associate in Science in Fire Technology degree May 25, 2011.
Jeff was well known in the community working for the Morongo Basin Ambulance and Hi-Desert Medical Center in the emergency room. Several of his friends wanted to honor him, and with his father Bill’s blessing, they began a Jeff Tabor Memorial EMT Scholarship to help pay for a student to attend and complete CMC’s EMT program. Bethany Henson shared, “Jeff Tabor was an amazing soul that I was grateful to have the opportunity to know and consider a friend. I’m donating in his memory with the hope that the student who receives this scholarship will bring just a little more light and love into the world the way that Jeff was able to. May he forever rest in peace”.
The estimated cost of the EMT program is $1760. Currently the scholarship has received, by two separate donors, two （2） full ride ($1760) scholarships and with the help of 34 other donors the 基础 has another $3,435. The generosity is contagious and Jeff’s father is extremely comforted by this outpouring of love. Maya Brand said “Jeff Tabor was an amazing humanitarian, so it’s only fitting that this scholarship program reflect his love on helping others.”
The community will certainly benefit from more well trained EMT’s while his friends are thrilled to be able to honor Jeff in this way. The CMC 基础 will work with the College’s Health Sciences Department to figure out how best to award this scholarship. If you would like to donate, share or comment you may 点击这里.
