History
The Gallery on Pearl opened in March of 2007 featuring three nationally known ceramic artists in connection with the national ceramics convention being held in Louisville, Kentucky.
It is a venture of two Indiana University Southeast retired faculty members and their spouses--John and MaryAnn Guenther and Curt and Pam Peters. Both John and Curt taught at Indiana University Southeast for over 30 years--John in ceramics and Curt in philosophy. MaryAnn is an attorney and Pam is a history author.
The four partners wanted to stimulate the renaissance of historic downtown New Albany and thought that opening a gallery would be a perfect way to do so. The location is in the White House Centre on Pearl Street between Market and Main.
